Rugby Day For Kerry Pupils
3rd November 2016 By Munster Rugby
The Munster Community Rugby Department recently held a contact rugby day for the pupils in the national schools in and around Tralee.
Around 200 pupils from fifth and sixth classes attended an introduction to contact rugby session in Tralee RFC.
Munster Rugby Community Rugby Officers, Club Community Rugby Officers and club volunteers gave the students instructions on how to prepare for rugby, falling in the tackle and tackle technique exercises before facilitating conditioned rugby matches relevant to their experience and understanding.
A big thanks to Tralee RFC for hosting the event and for Sean Brosnan, Tralee CCRO, for organising the event.
The Community Rugby department at Munster Rugby is comprised of five Community Rugby Officers with each one responsible for a group of clubs, schools and colleges within an allocated geographic region.
It also includes a Women's Development Officer, Girls Participation Officer, Limerick Regeneration Officer and 12 part-time Club Community Rugby Officers working in schools in conjunction with their respective clubs.
The primary role of the department is to increase participation across all areas of rugby throughout Munster. For more details, please email info@munsterrugby.ie.
