Rugby Development At Abbey CBS

Munster Rugby Coaching Officers John Lacey and Andy Brace recently paid a visit to the Abbey CBS, Co. Tipperary, in support of the school’s continued rugby development programme.

Having claimed the O’Brien Cup this season and for the third time in the last ten years, the Abbey School has had no shortage of rugby success, and with the assistance of the Munster Rugby Coaching Department has set out to grow the sport to its full potential.

Supported by Principal John Heffernan, the Abbey CBS staff have undertaken the role of rugby development led by Billy Cronin, former Munster No. 8, with the assistance of teachers Kieran Hickey and Jim Kissane, who are both helping with the promotion of the game.

The School benefits from surrounding clubs Clanwilliam, Kilfeacle, Galbally and Bruff where many of their students are coached from a young age and go on to enhance their skill-set and knowledge of the game by competing in school competitions.

Munster Rugby would like to wish the Abbey CBS continued success and look forward to working with them in the future.
