Rugby Development November Round-Up | Participation

November was a busy month for the Rugby Development Department with a number of participation events taking place throughout the province.
See below for a round-up of what took place.
At the start of November, a blitz for 3rd and 4th class students was held in Galbally RFC which saw 14 teams from a number of schools in the area take part on the day; Ballylanders, Galbally, Anglesboro, Kilbehenny, Knocklong and Aherlow.
Munster Rugby men’s senior players Josh Wycherley and Diarmuid Barron were also in attendance.

Earlier this month, the third annual John O’Neill memorial blitz took place in Waterpark RFC in Waterford.
Eight teams from five schools from the region competed on the day; Cashel Community College, St Declans, Waterpark College, Newtown and De La Salle. 150 1st year U14 players were involved on the day.

The first Munster Rugby Intercounty U17 Blitz of the season took place at Musgrave Park on Saturday, November 11th which saw club players from throughout the province compete on the day.
The players who were involved are not on any Munster age-grade squads or regional development squads which provides a unique and special opportunity for these players to represent their county.
Seven teams competed in total; Clare, Kerry, Limerick, Tipperary, Waterford and two from Cork.

A West Cork Emerging School blitz was held in Clonakilty RFC which saw 50 players taking part from Coláiste Pobail Bheanntraí and Skibbereen Community College.
An U17 Emerging School blitz was held in Musgrave Park on Thursday, November 16th which saw 100 players take part.
The schools which were in attendance included Skibbereen Community School, Carrigaline Community School, Carrigtwohill Community College, Mitchelstown CBS, Coláiste Mhuire Cobh and Davis College.
An U14 emerging school blitz was held at the University of Limerick which saw Salesian College Pallaskenry, St. Caimin’s Community School Shannon, Newport College, Scoil Pól Kilfinane and Villiers compete on the day.
A West Munster emerging school blitz was held in Tralee RFC on Tuesday, November 21st which saw Coláiste na Scelige from Cahersiveen, Pobalscoil Inbhear Scéine from Kenmare and Castleisland Community College take part.
210 children from CBS Ennis, Gaelscoil Mhíchíl Cíosóg and Holy Family Junior School attended a 5th class Primary School blitz held in Ennis RFC.
During the blitz, a tackle workshop was also held for the players on the day.
The URC trophy tour also continued it’s journey to clubs and schools throughout the province.
