It was a bad day for the three Munster sides in Division 1A of the Ulster Bank League as all three lost, while Highfield go back to the top of Division 2A on point’s difference ahead of Nenagh Ormond.

A fourth try in the last play of the game earned Terenure College a surprise 28-17 victory over Young Munster at Tom Clifford Park, a score that denied the home side a losing bonus point.

A try, conversion and penalty by Alan Tynan saw Young Munster trail 13-10 at half time. Tynan converted a penalty try in the second half.

A poor start by Cork Constitution saw them lose 22-13 away to Clontarf. Conor Kindregan and Brian Hayes scored tries for Con’ and Tomas Quinlan kicked a penalty.

A Liam Coombes try was not enough for Garryowen who lost 27-7 away to St. Mary’s College.

In Division 1B UCC continued their battle away from relegation with a 39-18 home win against Ballynahinch.
Tom Kiersey scored three tries for the students with Paul Kiernan, Richie Walsh and James Kiernan getting one each. Kevin O’Keeffe kicked three conversions and a penalty.

Dolphin remain bottom after their 30-8 away defeat at Naas.

Highfield have gone back to the top of Division 2A on point’s difference ahead of Nenagh Ormond after their 57-7 win against bottom side Belfast Harlequins at Deramore Park. Luke Kingston scored three tries for the winners, Fintan O’Sullivan two and Mark Dorgan, Peter Martin, Dave Kelly and Mark Murphy got one each. Paddy O’Toole kicked five conversions.

Cashel lost at home to Banbridge 13-10 with Ed Leamy scoring a try for Cashel and Ollie McGlinchey kicked a conversion and a penalty.

Old Crescent were defeated 31-27 away to City of Derry but still managed to pick up two bonus points to keep their promotion hopes alive. Larry Hanly (2), Kevin Doyle and Val McDermott were Crescent’s try scorers and Shane O’Brien kicked two conversions and a penalty.

Thomond nearly shocked leader’s City of Armagh at Liam Fitzgerald Park when they missed a last minute penalty before going down 13-12. Armagh led 10-0 at half time. Wayne Mullaney and Dermot Fitzgerald scored tries for Thomond and Fitzgerald added a conversion.

In Division 2C Midleton lost at home to promotion chasing Sligo 33-13. Sean White was Midleton’s try scorer and Stuart Lee kicked a conversion and two penalties.
