School Competitions Up And Running

The opening round of games in the Schools Bowen Shield (U17) and McCarthy Cup (U15) got underway today.
Ard Scoil Ris had the biggest win of the day with a 42-0 away win over Villiers in the Bowen Shield. Brion Morrissey, Joey Walsh, Eric Clancy, Paul O’Brien, Jack O’Halloran and Luke Walsh were try scorers for the winners and Robbie Deegan chipped in with a few conversions.
St. Munchin’s defeated Glenstal 20-11. Benjamin Nugent, Benjamin Kilkenny and Mark Long were try scorers for Munchin’s and Long also added a conversion and penalty.
Crescent College Comprehensive defeated Castletroy College 20-5. Jack Hogan and Will Leonard scored tries for Crescent and JJ O’Neill kicked two conversions and two penalties. Jack O’Neill replied with a try for Castletroy from a driving maul.
C.B.C. were 30-0 away winners over Bandon Grammar. David Parfrey, James Bradfield, Thomas Quinlan, Shane McAuliffe and Jack Moloney scored tries for Christians and McAuliffe kicked a conversion and penalty.
A last minute try from Richard Cassidy earned C.B.C. a 20-14 win over Bandon Grammar in the opening series of games in the McCarthy Cup. Rob Maguire and Michael O’Halloran also scored tries for the winners and O’Halloran added a conversion and penalty.
Crescent College Comprehensive defeated Castletroy College 27-20. J Hanrahan scored three tries for the winners and Billy O’Hora got two and also added a conversion. Castletroy replied with tries from Luca Ridder, Niall O’Shea, Evan Slattery and Darragh O’Neill.
Rockwell defeated P.B.C. 8-7 at Wilton. A try from Tim Brennan anda penalty from Billy Johnston gave Rockwell an 8-0 interval lead. Fiachra Kelleher replied with a try for Pres’ in the second half and replacement out half Harry Shanahan converted.
