Munster Schools rugby is in full flow with a significant amount of games being played on a weekly basis since September.

Some of the competitions are now coming to the knockout stages with the final stages of the Bowen Shield and McCarthy Cup on schedule.

The Bowen Shield A competition, which was U18 again this season and has 10 schools participating, saw play-offs last week with Ardscoil Rís and St Munchin's College going through to the knockout stages.

The quarter-finals will take place this week with PBC playing Ardscoil Rís in Wilton, Rockwell v St Munchin's in Rockwell, Bandon Grammar v CBC in Bandon and Crescent College Comprehensive v St Clement's in Crescent. Fixtures and results are available here.

The McCarthy Cup A and B competitions are now into Cup and Plate stages with games confirmed for this week and all finals proposed for the first week in December. The McCarthy Cup C and Bowen Shield B competitions are also in their final stages with semi-final spots to be confirmed in the coming week.

The inaugural Mungret Cup and Shield leagues were deemed very successful this season. The initiative saw six schools (Bantry, Clonmel HS, Colaiste Choilm Ballincollig, Midleton College, St Clement's and Villers) play bi-weekly at both U19 and U16 level respectively. The league format was designed to pre-determine seeding and home advantage for the cup competition, as well as offer more definitive and competitive rugby fixtures for the schools. The cup competition takes place in the new year.

The Senior and Junior Cup qualifiers are also taking place within the month of November as well as the O’Brien and King Cups which will commence this week. The Senior and Junior Cup draws are due to take place at the end of November and updates will be available here on the Domestic section of the Munster Rugby website.
