Plenty of schools rugby action on Tuesday, with Waterpark winning the O’Brien Cup as well as action from the Mungret Shield

Waterpark 10 St Clement’s, Limerick, 7

Waterpark won the O’Brien Cup (Munster under 18) for the first time since 1952 when they edged out St Clement’s, Limerick, in an exciting final in Clonmel (Tues).
Neither side could manage a score in the first half but three minutes after the resumption St Clement’s jumped into the lead thanks to a try by their captain, Alan Kennedy which was converted by hooker Sean Dooley.
Waterpark cut the deficit with a penalty by outhalf Geoff Deegan and eighth minutes from the end the Waterford side grabbed victory with a try by centre Ivan Kiersey which Deegan converted.

The trophy was presented to the winning captain by Brendan Mullan, tournament co-ordinator.

SMI, Newcastlewest, 24, St Caimins, Shannon 5

Brian O’Sullivan had a try in each half as SMI qualified for the semi-final of the Mungret Shield (Munster u 15) at Newcastle west yesterday (Tues).
O’Sullivan’s first half try was converted by Darragh Tracey and he also slotted over a penalty to have his side 10-0 in front at the interval.
Pat O’Dea also got in for a try which Tracey converted and he also added the points to O’Sullivan’s second try.
Owen McCoy had a try for the losers.
