Bandon Grammar School secured their place in the quarter-final stages of the Clayton Hotels Munster Schools Senior Cup with a comprehensive victory over High School Clonmel CBS at Irish Independent Park earlier today.

Bandon secured the first points on the board with a try from Joshua D’Alton in the opening minutes, the centre racing through the middle to touch down under the posts before Captain Jack Crowley converted the score.

Scrum-half Ciaran Roberts then extended Bandon’s lead over Clonmel with his side’s second try, while Crowley stepped up to secure the extras with the boot.

Wing Tom Beare then showed impressive pace down the right wing to dot down in the corner following impressive work from the backs, as Crowley once again converted Bandon’s score after 18 minutes.

Centre Soren Minihane troubled the Clonmel defence with a powerful run through the middle and went over for Bandon’s fourth try, converted by Crowley.

Two penalty opportunities before the break resulted in Crowley extending Bandon’s lead on both occasions.

A fantastic break from Clonmel full-back Zach Cahalane resulted in a spell of possession for High School, but a loose ball gave possession back to Bandon.

D’Alton then secured his second of the match after running an impressive line from deep to touch down on the 50-minute mark, before Crowley landed a tricky conversion from the left.

A storming run from Jason Connolly up the centre of the pitch resulted in a chip over the top from Crowley, as Beare collected to race over for his second of the match.

Beare then scored his hat-trick after the wing went on a darting run off the back of a scrum metres from the line. Crowley added the extras on 62 minutes.

Soren went over for his second try, powering through the defence to out-pace the last defender before the conversion was added by Crowley.

Roberts secured the final try of the match after breaking through from 10 metres out to race over under the posts, Crowley then converted.
