Schools | McCarthy Cup C Blitz Finals Day

A total of 10 schools took part in the U15 McCarthy Cup C Blitz Finals Day in Coonagh last week with teams split into two groups, Group A and Group B.
The blitz day was the fifth and final round of the McCarthy C blitzes with a new format introduced for this season.
The previous four blitz days were regionalised with between two and four sides taking part in events across the province.
Over the course of the five blitzes, 16 different schools participated.
At the conclusion of the group stages, the corresponding sides played one another, 5th v 5th, 4th v 4th etc.
The top teams in each group met in the final with Colaiste Ide agus Iosef-Abbeyfeale defeating Newtown School.
St. Joseph’s CBS-Nenagh, Thomond Community College, St Caimins CC-Shannon, Presentation Brothers College Cork, Colaiste Ide agus Iosef-Abbeyfeale, Christian Brothers College Cork, Gael Cholaiste Luimnigh, St. Munchin’s College, Newton School and St. Anne’s CC Killaloe all participated in the finals day.
Shannon RFC supplied four pitches on the day while three trial members of the MAR refereed the matches.
