Scoil Bhride Teachers Play Rugby
4th December 2015 By Munster Rugby
Following on from the success of the Play Rugby programme in Scoil Bhride, Midleton for 5th and 6th class students, the school’s teachers took part in a workshop to upskill on coaching Leprechaun Rugby as part of the programme.
In total 24 teaches participated where ‘fun games’ initiatives were introduced before the Leprechaun Rugby coaching session.
The 'Play Rugby' programme encourages the effective development of non-contact mini rugby through schools by providing them with the necessary equipment and coach education.
Since the introduction of the 'Play Rugby' initiative boys and girls throughout the country have learned rugby techniques that include running and evasion, passing and tagging and it is hoped they will continue to play rugby at their local rugby clubs.
School teachers are encouraged to continue with this initiative and assist with the development of rugby at primary school level.
On completion of the course, the school will be presented with a 'Play Rugby' equipment pack which contains six rugby balls, cones, bibs, games and much more.
