Scoil Iosagain Lep Rugby Blitz

Scoil Iosagain Lep Rugby Blitz

Limerick regeneration community rugby officers Andy Brace and Ross Callaghan recently held a Lep Rugby Blitz for pupils of Scoil Iosagain National School in partnership with Southside Community Leadership Arts and Sports Programme (CLASP).

The students of CLASP have spent the last six months developing their knowledge of the game with the primary focus on the basic skills and principles of rugby.

Whilst recently gaining their Lep Rugby Coaching qualification, students were then selected to help and assist community rugby officers deliver regular sessions out in the schools as well as gaining valuable work experience in coaching young children.

As the majority of the training through the last six months was peer to peer coaching and refereeing, the whole purpose of the blitz, therefore, was to allow students to gain experience in running the blitz by themselves with the assistance of Munster's Community Rugby Officers.

Munster Rugby would like to take this opportunity to thank Scoil Iosagain teacher DJ Lenihan and CLASP leaders Pat Galvin and Aisling Mulhall for their assistance in coordinating the blitz and also a big well done for the effort and determination shown by all the students on the day.
