Scoil Iosagain N.S. Tag Blitz
30th May 2012 By Munster Rugby
Munster Rugby recently held a Tag Rugby Blitz for fifth and sixth class pupils of Scoil Iosagain National School in partnership with Southside Community Leadership Arts and Sports Programme (CLASP).
The new group of students from CLASP have spent the last seven months developing their knowledge of the game with the primary focus being on the fundamental skills and principles of rugby.
Whilst recently gaining their Lep Rugby Coaching qualification, students were then selected to help and assist Limerick Regeneration Officer Andy Brace deliver regular sessions out in the schools and Easter Camps as well as gaining valuable work experience in coaching young children.
As the majority of the training through the last seven months was peer to peer coaching within the sessions, this blitz allowed the students to gain experience in running the blitz independently with the assistance of Munster Community Rugby Officers.
Munster Rugby would like to take this opportunity to thank Scoil Iosagain N.S. teacher DJ Lenihan and CLASP leaders Aisling Mulhall and Pat Galvin for their assistance in coordinating the blitz and the effort and determination shown by the students on the day and throughout the year.
