Season Kicks Off

The new season officially kicked off a week ago with the Meteor Club Sevens hosted by Garryowen FC, and the Cork and Limerick Charity Cups commencing.
Cork Constitution has advanced to the final in Cork where they await the winner of this weekends semi final clash between Midleton and Highfield.
In Limerick the Garryowen v U.L. Bohemian semi-final has now been re-fixed for Tuesday night, while Shannon will travel to Young Munster this Friday in the other semi-final.
This weekend will also see Cork Constitution face U.L. Bohemian at Temple Hill in the opening game of the ODM Munster Senior Cup. The Second Round is scheduled for the week after with the big game being the meeting of holders Shannon at home to the winners of the Constitution v U.L. tie.
The draw for the All Ireland Senior Cup was held on Thursday 4th September with the opening games being played at the end of September.
The Junior season is also underway with Kilfeacle and Carrick-on-Suir booking semi final places in the Mansergh Cup in Tipperary. In the Transfield Cup in Limerick Young Munster and U.L. Bohemian have progressed to the quarter final stages.
The Junior Clubs Challenge Cup has a new format this season. Eight Second Division sides will play in the opening round on the 14th September with the second round to follow a week later. Four successful Second Division sides will then join the twelve First Division sides in the Third Round which is scheduled for the last weekend in September. The Four First Round losers will join the thirteen Division Three sides in a Plate Competition which will get under way on the 21st September.
The Third Division of the Junior League is split into two sections this season with sides playing each other home and away. The opening games in the Western section will begin on the 21st September with all the other Junior clubs beginning their campaigns at the start of October.
The Dennehy Cup kicks off the Junior Two season in Cork in mid September with the First Round losers going on to play in the O’Sullivan Cup. In North Munster, the Gleeson League commences on the last weekend of September.
The North Munster U20 League begins at the end of September. Currently clubs not involved in Division One of the South Western Conference U 20 League are being surveyed as to the possibility of having a Second and Third Division league.
