SEAT Schools Junior Cup Kicks Off

The first round of the SEAT Munster Schools Junior Cup kicked off in Cork with PBC taking on Castletroy College at the Mardyke.

Current Junior Cup title holders PBC got off to an ideal start to their campaign with a 33-10 victory over their Limerick counterparts.

In perfect conditions the home-side proved to be too strong for the visitors scoring five tries in the process.

At halftime Pres led 14-3 thanks to a try each from Louis Bruce and Sam O'Donovan, both converted by outhalf James Broderick.

It was an impressive return from injury for Sean French who was introduced after the break, and he was quick to make an impact, scoring two tries in ten minutes. Broderick converted the second to further extend the lead.

Billy Scannell, younger brother of Niall and Rory, was next to get on the scoresheet and this time Sean French ably took over the kicking duties and added the extras before Castletroy finished out the game with a late converted try.

The round 1 action of the Munster Schools Junior Cup continues tomorrow with three games taking place and the fixtures are listed below.

Wednesday, February 4th:
St Munchin's College v Ardscoil Rís, Grove Island, 3:30pm
CBC v Rockwell College, Lansdowne CBC, 3pm
Crescent College v Glenstal Abbey, Dooradoyle, 3.30pm
