SEAT Schools Senior Cup Semis Start Today

The SEAT Munster Schools Senior Cup semi-finals kick off today with PBC hosting Ardscoil Rãs at Irish Independent Park (ko 2:30pm).

Ardscoil Rís are looking to complete a double over Cork sides after eliminating pre-tournament favourites CBC thanks to Conor Fitzgerald's last-minute penalty at the quarter-final stage.

The Limerick school also beat St. Munchin's in their first round tie and travel to Cork full of confidence.

The PBC backline, led by captain and scrum-half John Poland were outstanding as they overcame Castletroy on a 22-15 scoreline at Thomond Park in the quarter-final to make up for their first round defeat to Rockwell College. Pres have history on their side as they have collected 28 Senior Cup titles while last year's beaten finalists Ardscoil have yet to claim the coveted trophy.

Thomond Park is the venue for the second semi-final tomorrow at 3pm as Glenstal Abbey face Rockwell College at the Limerick venue.

Glenstal captured the Limerick City Cup before Christmas and beat St.Clement's in the final qualifying round. They were beaten by Castletroy in the first round but knocked out holders Crescent at Thomond Park in a low-scoring quarter-final that ended 6-3 to Glenstal.

Rockwell are in fine form having accounted for PBC in Cork in the first round and then St. Munchin's in the last eight. Head coach Mark Butler led the Munster U-18 Schools side to the Interpro title earlier this season and former Munster man and Irish international Denis Leamy is also part of the coaching team.
