Presentation Brothers College 24 – 10 Castletroy Community College
The chase is on for title number 33 as a half time come back for Cork’s Presentation Brothers College sends them into the Pinergy Munster Schools Boys Senior Cup Final.
Castletroy were first to strike in just the fifth minute of play as winger James Rennison ran in in the corner. Liam Glynn followed with the extras.
Pres responded ten minutes later with a try of their own from Alex Moloney. Daniel Murphy slotted the conversion that followed right through the uprights.
That was it for scoring in the first half as both sides stood strong in defence for the remaining 20 minutes.
PBC got themselves back on the score sheet in the 50th minute when Rian Macfarlane O’Shea trundled over from five metres. Daniel Murphy added the extras.
Castletroy got themselves back in the game in the 54th minute with a penalty taken by Liam Glynn.
With 15 minutes left to play there was just four points separating the sides.
A maul try from PBC’s Liam Hegarty in the 63rd minute widened the gap even more between the sides as the clocked ticked closer to the red.
As the 68th minute struck the 32 time winners sealed the deal with a beautifully executed intercept try from Deckie Fitzgerald. The conversion drifted just wide but that didn’t matter to the Cork side as they were once again through to another Pinergy Munster Schools Boys Senior Cup final with a final score of 24-10.
PBC will now meet old foes and fellow city dwellers CBC in the final on Thursday March 20th at 2pm in Cork’s own Virgin Media Park.
