The opening games in the Bank of Ireland Munster Senior Cup were decided at the weekend as Cork Constitution defeated Highfield in the final of the Cork Charity Cup.

There was a thrilling Tipperary derby at Nenagh where Cashel came from 17-3 down to defeat the home side 22-17.

Richard Moran, Oisin O’Suilleabhain and James Ryan scored tries for Cashel and Aidan McDonald kicked a penalty and two conversions. John Healy and John O’Flaherty replied with tries for Nenagh and Conor O’Brien converted both and also added a penalty.

Clonmel, making their first appearance in the competition, lost away to Dolphin 26-3. Alan O’Sullivan, David Byrne, John Leahy and John Fitzgerald scored tries for Dolphin and Daryl Foley converted all three tries. Darren Cross replied with a penalty for Clonmel.

UL Bohemian booked their place in Round Two after a 29-0 away win at Midleton. Colin Ryan and Rory White both scored two tries each for the winners. Alan Kiely converted three of the tries and also added a penalty.

In the all Division 2B clash, Sunday’s Well defeated Bruff 20-3 at Kilballyowen Park. Brian Derham scored a try, two conversions and two penalties for the ‘Well and James Kingston also scored a try. Florent Riquet replied with a penalty for the home side.

Cork Constitution won the Cork Charity Cup for the 46th time with a 25-17 win over Highfield in the final at Temple Hill.

Con’ led 17-3 at half-time with tries by Niall Kenneally and Ryan Foley and two conversions and a penalty by Aidan Moynihan but had to withstand a second half fightback by Highfield.

A penalty by Moynihan and a try in the final minute by Tomás Quinlan saw Con’ keep the trophy.

Colin O’Neill and Eddie Earle replied with tries for Highfield and Paddy O’Toole converted both and also added a penalty.
