Highfield lose further ground in their fight against relegation as U.C.C. reach the final of the ODM Munster Senior Cup.
Highfield moved a step closer to the Third Division of the AIB All Ireland League after a
disappointing performance at Woodleigh Park that saw them lose 19-0 to Terenure College. This victory eased any relegation worries the visitors might have had and they led 13-0 at half time with a try from Cathal Morley and a conversion and two penalties by Dave McAllister. Terenure added two further penalties by McAllister after the break to secure the points.
Queens University have moved to the top of the Third Division ahead of Midleton after their 30-3 away win over Co. Carlow.
In an exciting ODM Munster Senior Cup tie at Rosbrien, U.C.C. booked their place in the final with a 21-16 win over Shannon. The sides were level 11-11 each at half time with Luke O’Dee scoring a try for Shannon and Mossie Lawlor kicking two penalties. College replied with a try from John Ryan and a penalty and drop goal by Andrew Burke. A try by Michael Lenihan and a conversion and penalty had the students 21-11 ahead with ten minutes remaining. Shannon rallied in the final stages but their only reward was a try by David Quinlan.
