As the Ulster Bank League enters a two week break, both Shannon and Old Crescent are top of their respective Divisions.

Garryowen travelled to Lakelands Park aiming to halt current Division 1A leaders Terenure College unbeaten run, but the Dublin side remain on top after their 27-20 victory.

The home side led 10-7 at half time and a late rally by Garryowen secured the Limerick side a losing bonus point. Hugh O’Brien Cunningham and JP Phelan scored tries for Garryowen and Jamie Gavin and David Johnston each kicked a conversion, Johnston also added two penalties.

A disappointing performance at Tom Clifford Park by Young Munster saw Dublin University come from 14-0 down after twenty five minutes to win 21-17 to claim their first victory of the campaign.

Tom Ryan and Ben Kilkenny scored tries for “The Cookies” and Shane Airey converted both and added a penalty.

Lansdowne proved too strong for Cork Constitution on the back pitch of the Aviva Stadium where they ran out 24-10 winners.

Shannon have extended their lead at the top of Division 1B after their 52-0 home win over Dolphin.

Shannon scored eight tries with Eathon Moloney scoring two and Sean McCarthy, Jack Stafford, Jack O’Donnell, Ciaran Parker, Darren Gavin and Keith Kavanagh getting one each. Conor Fitzgerald kicked four conversions and Stafford two.

U.C.C. got their first win away to high flying Naas 13-5. The students led 7-5 at half time with a try from John Hodnett and James Taylor converted and also added two conversions.

U.L. Bohemian suffered another defeat when they lost away to Ballynahinch 34-17. Joe Murphy and James Ryan scored tries for the visitors and James Harte converted both and added a penalty.

Nenagh Ormond have moved up to second place in Division 2A after their convincing 63-24 away win at Galway Corinthians. Ger O’Gorman and David Gleeson each scored two tries for Nenagh. Clayton Stewart, John Hayes, James McGarry and Peter Coman got a try each with Stewart kicking seven conversions and the three penalties.

Highfield got back to winning ways with a 22-9 bonus point win away at Greystones. Ian McCarthy, Miah Cronin, Paddy Ryan and Robert Maguire scored tries for the ‘Field. Lorcan Kavanagh kicked a conversion.

Cashel continued their climb up the table after their surprising 25-14 win against Queens University in Belfast. Michael Casey, Richard Kingston and Niall Fitzgerald scored tries for the Tipperary side and Darragh Lyons added two conversions and two penalties.

In the top of the table clash in Division 2B at Rosbrien Old Crescent defeated leaders Wanderers 20-19 with tries from Cathal O’Reilly, Cathal Monaghan and Val McDermot. Ronan McKenna kicked a penalty and a conversion.

Sunday’s Well ran in six tries in their 36-19 home win against City of Derry. The visitors had to play sixty minutes with only fourteen men after their hooker and sub hooker got injured. Luke O’Dea, Eoin Geary, Evan O’Connell, James Mulcahy, Darren Loftus and Rob O’Keeffe scored tries for the ‘Well and Shane O’Riordan added three conversions.

Bruff have moved up to third place in Division 2C after their 39-10 victory in Tullamore. Brian Fanning scored two of Bruff’s five tries with Tony Cahill, Magnus Collins and Eric Finn getting one each. David O’Grady kicked four conversions and two penalties.

Thomond’s recent good run came to an end after they lost away to Bangor 36-14. Darragh O’Neill scored two tries for Thomond and Evan Cusack converted both.

Bottom side Bective Rangers recorded a 34-24 bonus point home win against Midleton. Rob Smyth and Kieran Moynihan scored tries for the visitors and Stuart Lee added four penalties and a conversion.
