Old Crescent booked a home semi final against Young Munster in the Semi Final of the Bank of Ireland Munster Senior Cup as Cashel captured their first Senior Trophy.
Old Crescent had a convincing 43-12 win over a depleted University College Cork side at the Mardyke.
The students were short five of their regular team because of their involvement in the Ireland v England Universities game as well as some of their fringe players were involved in the Frazer McMullen Under 20 Cup semi final.
Shane O’Brien opened the scoring with a penalty for Old Crescent after twelve minutes.
Cathal O’Reilly scored a try after twenty nine minutes which O’Brien converted and a Jack Broderick try two minutes before half time had Old Crescent 15-0 ahead at half time.
Two minutes into the second half a try by Alex Simpson converted by O’Brien extended the visitors lead.
Rory Slater opened College’s account with a try which Kevin O’Keeffe converted.
O’Reilly scored his second try for the visitors and O’Brien added the extras.
Slater replied with his second try to leave it 29-12 with thirteen minutes remaining.
Old Crescent finished the stronger with further tries by Sean Monaghan and Val McDermott and O’Brien converted both.
At Irish Independent Park Cashel defeated Highfield 26-14 to win the Bank of Ireland Cyril Fitzgerald Plate, their first Provincial Senior trophy.
The Tipperary side who led 16-7 at half time had tries from Michael Cross and Eamon Connolly and Pat O’Connor converted both and added four penalties.
David O’Hea replied with two tries for Highfield and Paddy O’Toole converted both.
