Shannon RFC Girls Impress with Munster U/19
31st March 2010 By Munster Rugby
Shannon RFC’s girls’ squad was well represented both on and off the field when the Munster’s U/19 girl’s team took to the pitch recently to play Phillip Pocock Secondary school from Ontario Canada
Four of the Club’s girls lined out for the representative side while former Irish International and newly appointed Munster Rugby Women’s Community Officer Amanda Greensmith looked on from the sidelines.
Clair Norris, Milica Radic, Orla Scanlon and Nicole Cronin all played a role in Munster’s 25 point victory over the Canadians in a game which was dominated by the home side.
The popularity of girl’s rugby continues and Shannon RFC cater for girls teams at U/13, U/15, U/17 and U/19 as well as being engaged in the All Ireland Senior Women’s League.
Training takes place in Coonagh on Monday and Wednesday evenings and there’s always room for more players. Anyone interested in getting involved can contact Gerry Lawlor @087 7568559.
