Six Munster Players Named For Ireland U20s

Head Coach Nigel Carolan has named the Ireland U20 squad to face France on Friday, 12th February in Narbonne which includes six Munster players

Cork Constitution’s Dan Walsh, who will win his first U20s cap, comes straight into the back-row for the injured Will Connors.

Walsh joins his fellow club players centre Shane Daly and scrum half John Poland, who was named the man of the match after his performance last Friday against Wales.

Young Munster hooker Shane Fenton remains on the bench and joins Sean O’Connor from Cashel and Kelvin Brown from Shannon.

All three replacements made an appearance in last Friday’s opening 6 Nations fixture.

Commenting on Ireland’s defeat to Wales Carolan said "We were disappointed with how things went against Wales.

“I thought that we played well overall but mistakes proved costly in the end. We've hopefully addressed the key areas and we'll be looking for an improved performance on Friday night.

Our training sessions this week have been very positive and the players are looking forward to the game in Narbonne. If we can maximise on our opportunities, I'd be confident of a result against the French.”
