Speed & Strength Workshop At CIT

Munster Rugby recently hosted a Speed and Strength Workshop at Cork Institute of Technology for stage 2, 3 and 4 coaches.

The workshop was hosted by Munster Rugby’s Head of Age Grade Strength and Conditioning, Feargal O’Callaghan.

The Munster Under 17 Development squad were on hand to demonstrate the practical element of the module overseen by Sub Academy Strength and Conditioning Coach Danielle Cunningham.

Mobility exercises were demonstrated to the players by Cunningham, while O’Callaghan outlined to the coaches what they should be looking for.

Cunningham also put the players through some speed drills while O’Callaghan went through the specific relevant requirements with the coaches.

The players completed their evening's training with their normal gym session as O’Callaghan outlined to the coaches what they should be looking for, the common faults and how to correct them.

The evening concluded with an outline of how coaches decide what to put into a similar session to achieve the best results.
