Stuart Mangan RIP

Stuart Mangan from Fermoy and a graduate of Rockwell College and University College Cork, who passed away last Friday night, will be buried at Kilcrumper Cemetry Fermoy next Friday after the 12 noon Funeral Mass in St. Patrick’s Church.

Mangan, who sustained a very serious spinal injury, playing for his club Hammersmith & Fulham RFC in April last year, that left him paralysed from the neck down, was admitted to St Mary’s Hospital in Paddington, London last Thursday suffering from respiratory problems.

"StuartHe passed away peacefully on Friday (August 7) in the presence of his parents Brian and Una and his three brothers Keith, John and Barry.

Despite suffering such a horrific injury, the 26 year old displayed a remarkable courage and determination that left the many who came in contact with him humbled and lost in admiration.

Funeral Arrangements:

London: A Mass will be held this (Tues) evening in Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church at 41, Kensington Church Street (W8 4BB) at 7.30pm.

Dublin: Tomorrow (Wed) A Memorial Mass for Stuart will be held in the Church of St. Therese, Mount Merrion at 5.30pm.

Fermoy: The Funeral Mass will be held in St. Patrick’s Church, Fermoy on Friday, August 14 at 12pm, followed by burial at Kilcrumper Cemetery, Fermoy.

The Mangan family kindly request that in lieu of flowers, donations would be made to: The IRFU Charitable Trust, The RFU Injured Players Foundation or The Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital, Stanmore.
