Sunday’s Well End of Season Sevens

Sunday’s Well RFC U/18 team topped off a successful season by winning the inaugural ‘End of Season U/18 Sevens Competition’ at Sunday’s Well.

The competition, held on April 29th last, hosted six teams with players participating from Sundays Well, CBC, Crosshaven and CIT.

Matches commenced at 12.30pm and were played in a round robin format which culminated in a top of the table clash between Sunday’s Well and players from 5th Year in CBC. This match was in effect the final of the competition and was a close, nail-biting affair which was fiercely contested by both sides. Sunday’s Well shaved it in the end and a day of open running rugby played in a good spirit was polished off with a barbecue for players, supporters and referees.

Sunday’s Well were very grateful for the participation of all the players as well as the four Munster Branch referees who acquitted themselves excellently on the fast moving pitches.

Sunday’s Well RFC intend that this successful day will mark the start of an annual U/18 sevens competition for both clubs and schools.

Most of this year’s U/18 team which won an unprecedented South Munster League and Cup double will move to the U/20 team next year, forming a formidable and competitive squad that should be attractive to players looking for a welcoming club with which to ply their trade!
