Talent Camps Commence
10th July 2012 By Munster Rugby
Over 100 underage players convened today at Rockwell College, Co. Tipperary for the inaugural Munster Rugby Talent Camp.
This initiative was established through the Munster Domestic Rugby Department in conjunction with the Munster Academy as part of the IRFU Long Term Player Development pathway from age grade to senior level.
Players from Under 20, Under 19 and Under 18 (clubs and schools) have been selected over the past few months as part of the Munster player identification process and will spend the next five weeks in Rockwell College from Tuesday to Thursday taking part in extensive training programmes.
Programmes will include on-pitch activities, strength and conditioning and player welfare tutorials focusing on diet and nutritional needs.
The Munster Rugby talent camp will incorporate preparations for the upcoming interprovincial campaigns commencing this September and gives players, coaches and management a unique opportunity to familiarise themselves with all squads.
Throughout this five week period it is envisaged players will be identified for the Academy and Development Squads as part of Munster Rugby’s overall objective in building for the future.
