Bandon Grammar School 20 – 12 Christian Brothers College
The Munster Schools Junior Cup will be making the trip to West Cork for the first time ever as Bandon Grammar overcame 19-time winners Christian Brothers College 20-12 in Virgin Media Park.
Bandon Grammar crossed over first in the eight minute through flanker Shane Murphy with centre Jamie Hicks kicking the extra two.
Hicks was on the mark again as he slotted a penalty over in the 12th minute.
CBC finally earned their first score of the day as Sean Riordan crashed over in the 20th minute. Out half Harry Quinlan added the conversion.
Riordan was in again just ten minutes later putting the city side just two points ahead going into half time.
Bandon got back on the board early on in the second as Hicks sent another penalty over to put the side back in the lead by just a single point.
With the clock ticking ever closer to the red Bandon gave it one last push to make sure they secured victory.
A rolling maul sent hooker Alex Coleman over in the 49th minute. Jamie Hicks added the conversion giving the West Cork outfit a 20-12 lead as they entered the final ten minutes of the game.
Bandon Grammar wrote themselves into the history books as the final whistle sounded, earning them their first ever schools cup.
