Three Limerick Schools Advance Avonmore Milk Junior Cup Semis

Holders Crescent Comprehensive College, Ard Scoil Ris and Castletroy College booked their place in the semi finals of the Avonmore Milk Munster Schools Junior Cup in two weeks time.

An outstanding display by Crescent center Greg O’Shea saw the holders book a semi final place with a deserved win at Dooradoyle.

O’Shea kicked Crescent into the lead after ten minutes with a penalty. Mid way through the half O’Shea was back on the scoreboard with a try which Garoid Lyons converted.

The Crescent center went in for his second try shortly after the break and Lyons converted and O’Shea brought his tally to sixteen with a second penalty.

Pres’ never gave up and in the final five minutes Paddy Hegarty went in for a try and Conor Flanagan who had an excellent game converted and also added a penalty.

Ard Scoil Ris 17, St. Munchin’s 10.
Ard Scoil Ris caused a surprise at Clifford Park with a seven point victory over St. Munchin’s.

Ard Scoil Ris raced into the lead with a try from Kelvin Brown after ten minutes and Stephen Fitzgerald converted. Fitzgerald extended Ard Scoil’s advantage with a penalty on the stroke of half time for a 10-0 interval lead.

Ryan Meagher opened Munchin’s account with a penalty but Ard Scoil hit back with a try from Joe Cannon which Fitzgerald converted.

Munchin’s began to take control in the final quarter and were rewarded with a try from Mark Long which Meagher converted.

Despite further pressure by Munchin’s the Ard Scoil Ris defence held firm.

Rockwell 0, Castletroy College 20.
Castletroy College advanced to the semi finals with a deserved win over Rockwell at Clanwilliam Park.

Full back Conor Linehan opened the scoring with a penalty for Castletroy after eighteen minutes. Two minutes later John Fox touched down under posts and Linehan converted for a 10-0 lead.

Linehan made it 13-0 on the stroke of half time with a penalty.

Wing forward Pat O’Kane scored their second try on forty five minutes and Linehan converted.
