Transition Year Coaching Course At PBC And Player Visits
23rd November 2012 By Munster Rugby
Munster Rugby coach development department is currently running a Rugby Coaching Course for transition year students at Presentation Brothers Cork.
The course has been designed as part of the schools transition year social entrepreneurship initiative and gives an insight into coaching rugby at mini rugby level. The students have attended nine coaching modules to date which have included an introduction to the IRFU LTPD, role of the coach, teaching skills and session planning/organisation.
The students will complete their coaching workshop on pitch when they will coach pupils from neighbouring school St Joseph’s Primary.
PBC first year students were delighted to hear from past pupils Peter Stringer and Scott Deasy yesterday morning as the players paid them a visit to speak about their own school memories and how their schools rugby gave them the foundation to go on to develop their senior rugby careers.
Meanwhile Munster players James Coughlan and Billy Holland visited their own past school CBC to meet the students and take part in a question and answer forum.
