Trophy Aspirations At Girls Primary Blitz

Munster, Highfield, and Irish player Leah Lyons was in attendance and had the Women’s Rugby World Cup with her at Coláise Toibirthe in Bandon as more than 200 girls took part in a Primary Schools blitz in West Cork on Monday.
Earlier we looked at the Mother and Daughter pairing of Eileen and Elaine McCarthy who won the Munster Division 1 Plate for Bantry Bay as well as the O’Dwyer and Harrisson sisters, and hopes are that more young women down West will pick up the game, and perhaps one day wear the same green jersey that Leah will be sporting as the Women’s Rugby World Cup comes to Ireland.
Goggin Hill, Gurranes, Ballinadee, Presentation Girls and Newcestown National School all were given a taste of rugby at Bandon, who are still on the crest of a wave after their recent Munster Junior Challenge Cup title.
The huge attendance really enjoyed their day out with the oval ball, and then got to take pictures with the trophy which Leah herself will hopefully be lifting come September.
