Trypas To Tutor On IRFU Conditioning Course

The IRFU today announced the tutor and speaker line-up for its annual Certified Conditioning Coach (CCC) course which includes Adam Trypas, Munster Rugby Head Of Fitness.
The CCC is a practical hands-on course where you will learn and practice the many drills and exercises that are appropriate for conditioning rugby players at all levels. There are two courses running in 2014. The first is in Dublin City University (DCU), Dublin from the 30th of June to the 4th of July. The second is at the Limerick Institute of Technology, Limerick from 14th to 18th July 2014.
Places on the course are limited so please book early to avoid disappointment.
Adam Trypas
Adam Trypas is the head of fitness for Munster Rugby. He was previously the physical performance manager for Rugby League team the Catalan Dragons. Adam has also worked with other professional rugby union and rugby league teams including the Newcastle Knights, Wakefield Trinity Wildcats and Japanese rugby union franchise Toyota. Adam will give a guest presentation on the Munster Rugby strength and conditioning programme at the Limerick CCC course.
Ian Jeffreys
Ian Jeffreys is a highly experienced coach, author, academic and presenter and an acknowledged worldwide leader in the field of sport specific speed and agility development. He is currently a reader in strength and conditioning at the University of South Wales, where he directs all of the University’s strength and conditioning activities. Ian has worked with athletes in a wide range of sports, and at range of abilities up to international and professional level. Ian is the Editor of the UKSCA Journal, “Professional Strength and Conditioning” and is on the Editorial Board for the NSCA’s Strength and Conditioning Journal and the Journal of Australian Strength and Conditioning. Ian has authored three books “Total Soccer Fitness”, “A Coaches Guide to Enhancing Recovery – The Performance Lifestyle” and “Developing Gamespeed”. Ian was the NSCA’s High School Professional of the Year in 2006, and was made a fellow of the NSCA in 2009. Ian will deliver the “Gamespeed for Rugby” module on the CCC program.
Dan Tobin
Dan is the Head of Fitness at Leinster Rugby. Dan joined Leinster in 2006 and worked as academy strength and conditioning coach and senior strength and conditioning before being promoted to the role of Head of Fitness. Dan has a BSc in Sport Science and Health and completed an MSc by research in speed and power in rugby union players in UCD. Dan has also worked as a strength and conditioning coach with the Dublin senior football team and also represented Ireland as a 400m sprinter. Dan will give a guest presentation on the Leinster Rugby strength and conditioning program at the Dublin CCC course.
Cathal Byrd
Cathal Byrd is a highly experienced competitive weightlifter and active strength & conditioning coach. Cathal has a degree in physical education from the University of Limerick and is a certified weightlifting coach. He has won 4 national titles in weightlifting and currently holds a number of national records across a number of weight categories. Cathal has represented Ireland in weightlifting at the European Championships, World Championships and World University Championships. Cathal is an active strength and conditioning coach for two Munster Senior Cup rugby schools and for an AIL division 1 side. Cathal has also coached a number of Irish weightlifters to national titles, as well as junior & u23 international representation. Cathal will present on “Implementing Strength Training in School’s Rugby” and be an assisting tutor on the strength training module on the CCC program.
Eamonn Flanagan
Eamonn Flanagan is the IRFU Academy S&C coordinator and the lead S&C coach to the Irish U20 team. Eamonn has a PhD. in Sports Biomechanics from the University of Limerick. Eamonn has previously worked in strength & conditioning for the Scottish Rugby National Academy, Scotland A and Edinburgh Rugby. Eamonn will deliver “Strength Training for Rugby” and other modules on the CCC program.
Kevin Craddock
Kevin Craddock has a wealth of experience as a strength and conditioning coach and educator at all levels of the game of rugby. Kevin was the head of fitness at Connacht Rugby for three years and has also worked as a senior S&C coach at Connacht and an academy S&C coach at Leinster. He has also worked with Irish U19s and Irish U20/21s squads and the Ireland A National Team. Kevin also works as an educator for the IRB and has run level 1 and level 2 IRB conditioning courses around the world. Kevin is currently completing a PhD. at NUI Galway. Kevin will deliver “The Demands of the Game”, “Warm-Up and Movement Skills” and other modules on the CCC program.
