U20s Named To Play Wales

The Ireland Under 20s team (Sponsored by PwC) has been named today by Head Coach Mike Ruddock for Friday’s opening game in the U20 RBS Six Nations Championship against Wales, at Eirias, Colwyn Bay, ko 7.10pm

Ruddock has named a new look side with just two players from last year’s squad included in the starting XV – full back Stuart Olding and scrum half Luke McGrath who will also captain the side.

The newcomers include five Munster U20s with three named in the starting XV, Dolphin's Rory Scannell and Ryan Murphy, and UCC's Brian Scott.

Scott's fellow club man Darren Sweetnam is named in the replacements along with Shannon's Sean McCarthy.

Speaking ahead of the game, Ruddock said “The Panel have prepared well and have had some good results in our warm up matches. The guys have worked very hard and are well conditioned.”
