UCC Go Top In Division 2A Of Ulster Bank League

University College Cork have moved from third place to the top of Division 2A after a narrow victory over local rivals Highfield at Woodleigh Park.

maintained their unbeaten run away from home with a deserved victory over neighbours Highfield in this top of the table clash in Division 2A of the Ulster Bank League.
The students pack stood up to challenge of the Highfield forwards with Cathal Gallagher putting in a man of the match performance and was well supported by Kieran Stokes. Center Luke Duffy was also posing numerous problems for the home side.
The students led 9-0 at half time with three penalties from Sean Og Murphy on 11, 27 and 38 minutes.
Four minutes into the second half a drive by the College pack saw Kieran Stokes touch down for a try for a fourteen point lead.
Slowly Highfield came into game with David Kelly catching the eye with some excellent drives and out half Paddy O’Toole began to control the game. Penalties on 55 and 58 minutes by O’Toole closed the gap but the students held firm and in the final minute of the game O’Toole landed his third penalty to earn the home side a losing bonus point.
