Ulster Bank League Resumes This Week

A big game in Limerick in Division 1A of the Ulster Bank League this weekend as Young Munster take on Shannon at Tom Clifford Park.

Young Munster who are two points behind joint leaders Shannon will be hoping to end Shannon’s unbeaten start. The “Cookies” have only suffered one defeat and that was a narrow 16-15 defeat away to leaders Clontarf.
Shannon go into this tie full of confidence after home wins over Dolphin and St. Mary’s College and an away win over Cork Constitution.
A large crowd will be expected for this glamorous encounter and it should go right down to the wire.

There is another Munster local derby at Temple Hill when Cork Constitution entertain Garryowen. The Light Blues will be full of confidence after last week’s ODM Financial Munster Senior Cup victory and also that they beat Con’ in the opening round at Temple Hill in this competition. Con’ as they proved the last time out when they defeated Dolphin, they can never be written off and again their experience might see them come out on top.

Dolphin are away to St. Mary’s College and with both sides just above the relegation zone a win would be a big boost. Dolphin showed their fighting qualities last week with that extra time victory and a repeat performance could see them return home with the points.

U.L. Bohemian can get back among the promotion contenders in Division 1B with a home win over Buccaneers who are in second place and a point behind the leaders.

Bruff will want to bounce back to winning ways after last week’s Cup final defeat. They travel to Dublin to face U.C.D. and will have their work cut out to get something from this tie.

Old Crescent who have got themselves into a challenging position in Division 2A have a home tie against Seapoint. The Dublin side have found things a bit tough at this level since their promotion last season and if the Rosbrien side can reproduce their current form then they should collect the points.

Thomond who are also on a roll, travel to bottom side Clonakilty and they will be confident of a victory against a side who are pointless.

Midleton go in search of their first win of the campaign when they host City of Derry. Things have not gone well for the East Cork since the league began but they are due a change of fortune and could get their first win.

Division 2B leaders Cashel travel to Naas and despite last week’s defeat by Dolphin they should make it four wins from four.

Nenagh Ormond in fourth place two points behind the leaders are at home to Connemara. The Connacht side have surprised everyone this season and the Tipperary side cannot take anything for granted.

Sunday’s Well who are in mid table face a daunting task away to second placed Rainey Old Boys and the Cork side will do well to return home with at least a bonus point.

Highfield will be anxious to bounce back to winning ways after their defeat last day out by Cashel. They have a home tie against Banbridge and are capable of sending the Ulster side home pointless.

There is a full program of games in Division One of the Munster Junior League as well as the Junior Clubs Challenge Shield Final at Charleville when Newcastle West take on Presentation.
