Cork Constitution have regained top spot in Division 1A with home win over leaders Old Belvedere.

Cork Constitution are tops again in the League after a brilliant performance that saw off leaders Old Belvedere at Temple Hill.
The home side raced into an early 15-0 with Gerry Hurley opening the scoring with an early penalty. A try by Brian Hayes converted by Hurley made it 10-0. Denis Fogarty increased the home side’s advantage with a second try and eight minutes before the break Danny Riordan scored a try for the visitors which Andy Dunne converted.
Constitution controlled the second half for long periods and Brian Hayes extended the lead with his second try on fifty minutes. Hurley added his second penalty mid way through the half and Belvo’s only response was a try from substitute David Gilchrist.

Blackrock College 16,Dolphin 32
The boot of Barry Keeshan lifted Dolphin of the foot of the Division 1A table at Stradbrook and a point ahead of their opponents who now occupy the relegation spot.
A try by Cian Bohane and a conversion and penalty by Keeshan gave the Cork side a 13-9 advantage at half time.
Danny Barnes scored a second try for Dolphin and Keeshan converted and added three penalties and a drop goal to secure the points for the visitors.

St. Mary’s College 13, Young Munster 11.
In a closely fought game at Templeville Road, St. Mary’s College moved closer to a play off place with a narrow victory over their nearest challengers.
A try, conversion and penalty by Ian McKinley gave the home side a 10-8 lead at the interval. Aaron Carroll scored a try for “The Cookies” and Alan Kingsley kicked a penalty.
The only scores in the second half was a late drop goal by Gavin Dunne for the home side to seal victory and Kingsley kicked a penalty for the Limerick side that looked like giving the points to the visitors.

Buccaneers 35, Bruff 8
Buccaneers moved closer to a quick return to Division 1A with a strong second half performance that has seriously dented Bruff’s hopes of promotion for a second successive season.
A try by Dermot Mullane and a Brian Cahill penalty had the Munster Cup Holders trailing 10-8 at half time but it was all one way traffic after the break with Buccaneers adding three tries to secure a bonus point victory.

U.C.C. 16, Lansdowne 11
U.C.C. caused a big surprise at the Mardyke with a second half rally to defeat promotion chasing Lansdowne in their annual colours game.
Andrew Burke put the home side ahead with a penalty after three minutes. Eoghan Hickey levelled with a penalty for Lansdowne three minutes later and he put the visitors ahead with his second penalty on the stroke of half time.
David Hewitt extended the Dublin side’s advantage with a try. Skipper James Ryan put College back into the game with a try which Burke converted.
Burke added a penalty and a drop goal by out half Johnny Holland secured the points for the home side.

U.L. Bohemian 32, Dungannon 22.
A 25-10 lead at half time at Annacotty ensured maximum points for U.L. Bohemian as they Darren Moroney, Martin McPhail, Pa O’Regan and David Moloney scored tries for the home side and JJ Hanrahan kicked three conversions and two penalties.

In Division 2 Midleton kept their promotion hopes alive with a hard fought 13-6 home win over Old Crescent. The sides were level 3-3 at half time with Fergal Lawlor giving the visitors the lead and Jeff Hitchmough replied for Midleton. Lawlor restored Crescent’s lead with his second penalty but tries from Rob Smith and David Hurley made sure of victory for the East Cork side.

Both Thomond and Clonakilty suffered heavy defeats on the road. Queens University defeated Clonakilty 44-25 at Dub Lane. Michael O’Hea, David Lombard and Matt Kirby were try scorers for the visitors and Denis McCarthy kicked two conversions and two penalties.
Thomond suffered a 48-10 defeat away to Old Wesley at Donnybrook.

Nenagh Ormond kept their promotion hopes alive with a 17-11 away win over Rainey Old Boys. Ger Harmse and Michael Fogarty scored tries for the Tipperary side and David Delaney kicked two conversions and a penalty.
