Holders Cork Constitution lost to Terenure as Garryowen win at home following last week’s defeat by St. Mary’s in the second series of games in the Ulster Bank League.

With just a quarter of an hour remaining at Lakelands Park Terenure College looked set for a big upset as they led Cork Constitution 36-14 in Division 1A. Con’ showed the determination and pride expected of defending champions as they rallied late on to earn two bonus points with three late tries. Those points could prove crucial at the end of the season.

Con’ led 14-10 at half time with tries from Vincent O’Neill and Conor Kindregan. Two tries early in the second half had the home side 24-10 ahead,

Con’ felt unlucky to be denied tries by Aidan Moynihan and Kevin O’Byrne but Terenure responded with two more tries to make it 36-14. Con’ responded with three tries in the last fifteen minutes from Kevin O’Byrne, Greg Higgins and Luke Cahill, All five were converted by Tomas Quinlan.

Garryowen defeated Buccaneers 29-17 to pick up maximum points from their game at Dooradoyle. Darren Ryan, Mick Sherry, James McInerney and Dean Moore scored tries for Garryowen. Bill Johnston kicked a penalty and a conversion. Neill Cronin added two conversions.

Young Munster went down to their second successive defeat when they lost to Lansdowne 25-5. A Craig Hanlon try had the Limerick side 5-3 ahead at half time

Shannon recorded their second win of the campaign with an 18-3 win over Old Belvedere in Division 1B at Thomond Park. Sean McCarthy gave the home side the lead with a try after five minutes and Conor Fitzgerald converted. A second try from Stephen Fitzgerald and two penalties from Conor Fitzgerald ensured victory for the home side.

U.C.C. took three points from their trip to Banbridge as they shared the spoils 31-31. Three late converted tries saw saw the visitors come back from 31-10 behind. Cian Bohane scored three tries in the game and Ryan Murphy got one. James Taylor kicked four conversions and a penalty.

Dolphin caused a big upset with a 10-6 away win at Ballymena. Daryl Foley scored Dolphin’s try and Barry Keeshan kicked a conversion and a penalty.

U.L. Bohemian lost away to Naas 28-13. JJ Hanrahan played at out half for the visitors. Darragh Frawley and James Ryan were their try scorers and Hanrahan kicked a penalty.

In the top game of the day in Division 2A Malone defeated Highfield 21-14 at Gibson Park. Dan Healy and Miah Cronin scored tries for Highfield and Kieran Duggan converted both.

Both Tipperary sides bounced back after defeats last week.

Nenagh Ormond travelled to Belfast and defeated Queens University 37-31. John Hayes, Gerard O’Gorman, David Gleeson, Conor Muldoon and Kevin O’Flaherty were try scorers for Nenagh and Clayton Stewart added one conversion.

Cashel defeated Blackrock College 27-13 with tries from Josh Pickering, Niall Fitzgerald and Richard Kingston. They were also awarded a penalty try. Darragh Lyons kicked a conversion and Brian Fitzpatrick a penalty.

Old Crescent made it two wins from two in Division 2A when they defeated MU Barnhall 45-26. Larry Hanly scored three tries for the Rosbrien side and Brian Tuohy, Cathal O’Regan, Seaghan Gleeson and Kevin Doyle got one each Ronan McKenna added five conversions.

Sunday’s Well lost at home to Dungannon 19-10. Conor O’Brien scored the ‘Well’s try and Shane O’Riordan kicked a conversion and a penalty.

In Division 2C Midleton drew with Omagh Academicals 29-29. Michael Cronin scored two tries for the East Cork side and Louis Farnham and Stuart Lee got one each. Lee added three conversions and a penalty.

Bruff collected maximum points from their trip to Donnybrook after their 33-21 win over Bective Rangers. Johnny Clery, Davy Horan, Conor Fitzgerald, Tony Cahill and Manghus Collins were Bruff’s try scorers. David O’Grady added four conversions.

Thomond got their first win of the campaign with 27-20 away win at Tullamore. Ger Fitzgerald scored three tries for Thomond and Darragh O’Neill got two. Evan Cusack kicked one conversion.
