It was a great day for the Limerick city clubs in the Ulster Bank League with all six sides winning.

The biggest shock was at Dooradoyle where Garryowen defeated a fancied Clontarf side 51-17 to move up to third place in the table. A try from Liam Coombes and a conversion and two penalties by Neil Cronin gave Garryowen an early 13-0 lead.

The home side had further tries from Cronin, Coombes, Sean Rennisson, Peadar Collins and Hugh O’Brien Cunningham and Cronin kicked the remaining points.

Cork Constitution defeated UCD the early pace setters at Temple Hill 18-5. Tomas Quinlan kicked six penalties for the winners.

Young Munster won their first game with a 32-24 win away to Buccaneers. Ben Kilkenny scored two tries for the winners and Jack Lyons, Daniel Hurley and Gavin Coombes got one each. Conor Hayes kicked a penalty and two conversions.

Shannon are the new leaders in Division 1B after their 34-17 away win at Old Wesley. Conor Fitzgerald, Fionn McGibney, Eathon Moloney, Duncan Casey and Kelvin Brown were Shannon’s try scorers. Conor Fitzgerald kicked three conversions and a penalty.

U.L. Bohemian recorded their first win of the campaign with a 36-13 win over Ballymena at the University of Limerick 4G pitch.

Darragh O’Grady, James Harte, Harry Fleming, Robbie Burke and Joe Bennett scored tries for Bohes and Harte kicked three penalties and a conversion.

A last minute try denied UCC victory at the Mardyke where an injury time try gave Old Belvedere a 24-23 win. Kevin Slater, Ryan Murphy and Murray Linn scored tries for the students and James Taylor kicked a conversion and two penalties.

Dolphin lost at home to Ballynahinch 33-16. Kevin O’Leary was Dolphin’s try scorer and Barry Keeshan added a conversion and three penalties.

In Division 2A there were defeats for Cashel and Highfield but Nenagh Ormond defeated Greystones 28-19 to move into fourth place. Clayton Stewart, Peter Coman, Derek Corcoran and David Gleeson scored tries for Nenagh and all four were converted by Stewart.

A penalty five minutes from time gave Queen’s University a 16-14 away win against Highfield. Michael Dillane was Highfield’s try scorer and Kieran Duggan converted. The home side were also awarded a penalty try.

Cashel lost at home 18-16 to leaders Malone. Niall Fitzgerald and Richard Kingston scored tries for Cashel and Eamon Connolly and Darragh Lyons each kicked a penalty.

Wanderers remain top of Division 2B after their 42-26 home win over Sunday’s Well. The home side raced into an early 31-0 lead but the ‘Well rallied and tries from Francis Moynihan, John Moynihan, Darren Loftus and Josh Featherstone saw the visitors get a losing bonus point. Shane O’Riordan converted three of the tries.

Old Crescent remain in second place after their 36-5 away win at Dungannon. Brendan Guilfoyle scored three tries for the Limerick side, Brian Tuohy got two and Donal Hardiman one. Ronan McKenna kicked three conversions.

After a few lean years Thomond recorded their second win of the campaign in Division 2C to move up to fourth place with a 28-25 home win over Seapoint. Dean O’Brien scored three tries for the winners and Alex Slijepcevic got one each. Evan Cusack kicked two penalties and a conversion.

Bruff shared the spoils at home to leaders Sligo 20-20. John Hogan scored two tries for Bruff and David O’Grady kicked two penalties and two conversions.

Midleton suffered their first defeat of the campaign when they lost at home to Bangor 15-8. Ryan Hogan scored Midleton’s try and Stuart Lee added a penalty.
