Underage Weekend Roundup

A fiercely contested weekend in both the Bank of Ireland Munster Cup competitions, as well as divisional leagues around the province.

Young Munster’s large victory against Kanturk moved them up to third position in Group 1 of the Munster Club U18 Cup, as leaders Bruff continued their perfect record with a win over Sunday’s Well.

In Group 2 Ennis made it 5 wins from 5 with a 10-5 victory away to Midleton, while Tralee gained ground with a comfortable 39-14 defeat of Shannon-St Mary’s.

Group 3 saw second and third go head-to-head, with Garryowen recording a vital two point victory away to Newcastle West-Estuary to replace the fellow Limerick side in second place.

The Plate saw wins for Cork sides Dunmanway and Mallow in Group 1, while in Group 2 Cobh Pirates fought off leaders Nenagh Ormond by a single point to consolidate third position. The third group saw wins for Fethard and Charleville.

In the bowl Old Christians continued their perfect record in Group 1, running in 40 points against Killarney, while Highfield made it a perfect weekend for Cork clubs against the Kingdom, beating Chorca Dhuibhne by 8 points in Ballydavid.

The second group saw Cashel and Crosshaven cancel each other out while Youghal beat Clonmel 15-5.

The U16 Cup meanwhile saw the Pirates continue their fine form at the top of Group 1, dispatching of Killorglin with little fuss, while Bruff beat bottom side Dungarvan, but find themselves eight points off second placed Skibbereen.

In Group 2 Galbally tripped up for the first time this season, tying 3-3 with Young Munster-Scariff in a rather forgetful encounter, while in Group 3 the top two both won with Waterpark defeating Clanwilliam, and Ennis edging Castleisland by three points to hold onto second place.
