Video | Claire Bennett And Alana McInerney Preview Women’s Interpros
7th August 2024 By The Editor
Ahead of the 2024 Vodafone Women’s Interprovincial Championship, we spoke to Claire Bennett and Alana McInerney.
They spoke to us about their preparation for this year’s Interpros, working with Munster and UL Bohemian Head Coach Fiona Hayes and the new faces in the squad.
They gave us their thoughts on the upcoming games, with their first competitive fixture of this year’s series on Saturday at Virgin Media Park against Ulster, 2.30pm kick-off.
McInerney said, “I have been lucky enough to win the Interpros twice, and then last year when we didn’t win it it was really bitter sweet. We were really disappointed, and now I feel like we have a lot of hunger. Everyone wants to be winning the Interpros this year, winning all their games and everyone wants to be putting their best foot forward.”
Bennett spoke about the impact having new faces has had so far, “There’s a lot of new girls coming up, but the standard overall is much higher than it has been with people coming up in previous years, and I think a lot of that probably has to do with the pathways that are being put in place through NTS and the hard work that they’ll be putting in throughout the year.”
