The Munster Rugby Excellence Camps took place last week in both Musgrave Park and Thomond Park.
The camps offered a premium rugby experience for children aged 13-16 and players took part in a week-long structured rugby development programme which included core skill development, game understanding, position-specific training, appropriate strength and conditioning training and teamwork.
120 players took part across the two camps in Limerick and Cork.
Club and Community Rugby Officer and former Munster prop Brian Scott said:
“The Excellence Camps are an opportunity to give these young athletes a look into the eye of a professional rugby player’s day. We really tackle the cornerstones of rugby; the tackle, the breakdown, the catch-pass and ball-carry & evasion. We really try to give them a taste of the level that it needs to be at and the intensity that it needs to be at and coach them to the best we possibly can at that level.
“That’s what we try to get through during the week to fundamentally make them better rugby players.”
