The Munster Rugby School of Excellence at Rockwell College in Co. Tipperary returned this week after a two-year absence due to Covid-19.
The week-long camp, which consists of residential and non-residential options, provides boys aged 13-16 with the opportunity to develop their rugby skills and understanding through a game sense and technical excellence approach.
This week, 110 players have taken part in a structured rugby development programme which included core skill development, game understanding, position specific workshops, appropriate strength and conditioning training and teamwork.
This all took place in an enjoyable but challenging environment where players are encouraged to develop their all-round rugby ability. Throughout the week the players received top class coaching from Munster Rugby coaches.
We paid a visit to the School of Excellence this week and we spoke to Rugby Services Co-Ordinator Aidan Cleary and East Munster Rugby Participation Lead Ben Swindlehurst who both provided an overview of the week-long camp.
Munster Rugby hooker Diarmuid Barron, a former student of Rockwell College, was also in attendance as he gave a talk to the players.
