The Munster Rugby Development Department recently hosted a Girls X7s Blitz Finals Day at CIT with schools from across the province competing at Junior (U15) and Senior (U18) level.
A total of 23 teams participated in the finals day with Rockwell College winning the senior competition and St. Anne’s Community College coming out on top in the Junior competition.
Rockwell and St. Anne’s qualified for the National Girls X7s Finals Day along with schools who were runners-up at the Munster Girls X7s Finals Day.
Munster Rugby Participation Programme Coordinator Ray Gadsden, Women’s Development Officer Ken Imbusch, Girls Participation Officer Sana Govender joined Club Community Rugby Officers for Girls X7s Blitzes across the province ahead of the finals day in Cork.
The Girls X7s game is played on a half pitch with seven players on each team learning the basics of rugby, including catch/pass, tackle, ruck contact area, lineout and scrum set-up.
