Video | Munster U18 Women Look Ahead To Interpros
5th August 2021 By The Editor
The U18 Women’s Interprovincial Championship is just three weeks away as the Munster U18 Women’s squad ramp up their preparations ahead of what will be an exciting competition.
The Interpros kick off on August 28th and will be held on three successive weekends as Munster take on their provincial rivals.
In 2019, Munster won the U18 Women’s Interprovincial Championship but were unable to defend their title in 2020 due to Covid-19 restrictions.
A squad of 30 players has been confirmed ahead of the Championship and head coach Fiona Hayes explains how impressed she is with the group considering the lack of on-pitch rugby which has taken place over the last 12 months.
“Very young squad this year, so that’s exciting,” Hayes said.
“I was blown away by the skills on show having been off for such a long time but Munster Rugby have been doing some stuff with them from home. They’ve been looking at skills and what you could do with schoolbags or whatever they could get their hands on! They were doing some good stuff.
“It showed when we got out on the pitch and just the handling, in general, has been really, really good.”
