Want To Be A Referee?

The Munster Association Of Referees (MAR) are currently recruiting for new referees to take up the role throughout the province.

The call is open to both male and females who would like to take the general refereeing path or those who wish to support clubs at a local level through community refereeing.

The Munster Association of Referees would like to invite those interested in taking up a rewarding career officiating and supporting Munster Rugby to attend a New Referee Coaching Course scheduled for Sunday, 10th January at the Charleville Park Hotel facilitated by IRFU Referee Development Manager, Peter Fitzgibbon.

At a recent recruitment launch former Munster and Ireland international Paul O'Connell, who has strongly supported the Munster Association of Referees over the years, said that both Munster and Ireland Rugby need more referees and he encouraged those interested to take up the role and give something back to the game.

He said referees were both mentors and coaches to him as he moved through the underage ranks and evolved into advisers both technical and interpretive as his career matured. He mentioned how at underage level referees helped young players understand the need for discipline which helped with their development pathway.

All details of the New Referee Coaching Course can be found at Munster Association of Referee's website www.mar.ie For further information please email info@munsterrugby.ie
