Waterford City RFC and Tramore RFC have come together to form a new Youth Rugby team known as Waterford Rugby.

The aim of the new team is to provide a clear pathway for the Minis players from both Waterford City RFC and Tramore RFC to continue with the sport as they get older.

It is also hoped that by forming a dedicated Youth section between the two clubs, Waterford Rugby will also be able to recruit children who have never played the sport in addition to those who want to return to playing rugby in the East Waterford area.

Currently, Waterford Rugby consists of an U13/U14 team with the hope of moving up to U15/U16 next season.

The team played their first match at the weekend against Dungarvan RFC with many of the players experiencing 15-a-side rugby for the first time.

Training sessions are held on Thursday evenings (Waterford City RFC) and Sunday mornings (Tramore RFC).
