Conor Cooney scored fourteen points in Clonmel's 19-16 win over Cashel

Three of the semi-finalists in this season’s Bank of Ireland Munster Junior Cup have been decided as St. Mary’s have won promotion from Division 2 of the Munster Junior League.

Cork Constitution will face Clonmel in the semi-final after their victories in the last eight.

At Tom Clifford Park Cork Constitution defeated last year’s beaten finalists Young Munster 16-10. The Temple Hill side did all the damage in the opening half as they led 16-0 at the interval with a try from Luke Duffy and Niall Finn converted and added three penalties. Munsters replied with a try from Mark O’Mara and Conor Hayes converted and kicked a penalty.

Clonmel defeated Cashel in a thrilling encounter 19-16 at Cashel. Luke Hogan and Conor Cooney scored early tries for Clonmel. John Ed O’Connor opened Cashel’s account with a try which Ollie McGlinchey converted. Two Cooney penalties and one from Ryan O’Donnell left Clonmel 16-10 ahead at half time. O’Donnell had Cashel level on 62 minutes with two penalties but Cooney’s third penalty twelve minutes from time booked Clonmel their place in the last four.

It was also a hard fought game at Dooradoyle where Richmond overcame Garryowen 14-3. The sides were level 3-3 at half time with Tadhg Bennett and Harry Byrne exchanging penalties. Richmond pulled away in the final quarter with a try by Pat Humphreys and Bennett added a drop goal and a penalty.

The other tie between Shannon and Kilfeacle was postponed due to bereavement in the Kilfeacle club.

Cobh Pirates picked up their first win of the season with a 17-7 home win over Kanturk. Martin Clifford and Eoin McSweeney scored tries for Cobh and Ian Jones converted both and also added a penalty. Stephen McAuliffe was Kanturk’s try scorer and Conor Cremin converted.

Youghal are just two points above Cobh at the foot of the table with these sides to meet next week in their final game following Youghal’s 12-3 home defeat by Galbally. Johannes Gouws and Mark Sweeney scored tries for Galbally and Liam Casey converted one. Jonathon Ormond replied with a penalty for Youghal.

St Mary’s completed their program in Division Two with a 22-0 away win at Mallow, a result that guarantees them promotion to the top flight next season. They are now two points clear of Crosshaven at the top of the table. Darragh Fitzgerald, Tommy Galvin and Barry Duggan scored tries for the Saints and Paul Loughran converted two and kicked a penalty.

Thurles are still in with an outside chance of promotion following their 31-18 away win at Kinsale. Gerry McCormack, Tomas McNamara, Stephen Kirwan, Eoghan O’Dwyer and John Lillis scored tries for the Tipperary side and Lillis added three conversions.

Clonakilty’s promotion challenge ended despite beating Muskerry 10-3. Aaron Hayes and Cosmin Rosu scored tries for Clonakilty and Jonathan Buckley replied with a penalty for Muskerry.

Ballincollig defeated Killarney 36-3. Padraig Flynn scored two tries for Ballincollig, Fionn McDermott, Dave Power, Ger O’Sullivan and Kevin Ryan scored a try each. John Sheehan added three conversions.
