Weekend AIL Preview

There is another busy weekend of league action in the Ulster Bank All Ireland League ahead.

In Division 1A of the AIL, second placed Young Munster travel to the capital to take on Dublin University at College Park. This will be a tricky assignment for the Limerick side as Trinity will be seeking their first home win, following away victories over St Mary’s College and Terenure College.

Garryowen, who are fourth, also travel to Dublin to take on defending champions Clontarf, who are seventh. The Light Blues will be looking to build on their home win over Cork Constitution last time out in a bid to climb further up the table.

Last season’s finalists Cork Con, who are propping up the table, will have their work cut out as they entertain leaders and former champions Lansdowne at Temple Hill.

Division 1B leaders UL Bohemian will be looking to make it four wins from four as they travel to Galway to take on Galwegians at Crowley Park.

Dolphin, who recorded their first win of the campaign against Galwegians at Irish Independent Park last week, make the long trip north to take on Ballymena. This will be a tricky task for Dolphin as the County Antrim side will be looking to get back to winning ways after surrendering their unbeaten start to the campaign against UCC on Leeside.

UCC, who defeated Ballymena last time out, face a tough assignment as they travel to Athlone to take on second-placed Buccaneers.

Shannon, who are rooted to the foot of the table, will be looking to make the most of home advantage in a bid to record their first win as they welcome Naas to Thomond Park.

Highfield face a tricky task coming off the back of two successive draws as they travel to Galway to take on Corinthians, who claimed maximum points from their visit to Cashel in Division 2A.

Pacesetters Nenagh Ormond, who have slipped into second place following their 16-16 draw against Highfield, will be looking to get back to winning ways as they welcome Queen’s University to New Ormond Park.

Sunday’s Well, who recorded their first win against Belfast Harlequins at Deramore Park, entertain Cashel in a basement clash at Irish Independent Park.

In Division 2B, Old Crescent go head to head with Skerries at Holmpatrick and Thomond, who claimed their first points from their 13-13 draw against City of Derry on Foyleside, host third-placed Dungannon at Liam Fitzgerald Park.

Midleton, whose unbeaten start to the campaign in Division 2C was ended by Rainey Old Boys last week, travel to Drogheda to take on Boyne.

Kanturk will be looking to make home advantage count as they host Navan and Bruff entertain Sligo at Kilballyowen Park.
