Weekend Club Preview

The Ulster Bank All Ireland League resumes this weekend with a full programme of games across all four divisions.

Clontarf and Cork Constitution, who have both qualified for the Bateman Cup Final, with the Temple Hill side seeking a third successive title, lock horns at Castle Avenue in Division 1A. Con’ recorded a narrow 13-10 victory when these sides met on Leeside in November and this is a huge game for the Temple Hill side as they look to finish in the top four.

Young Munster entertain struggling St. Mary’s College looking to avenge November’s 21-15 defeat at Templeville Road. The Cookies now lie just two points off the top four after a topsy-turvy season.

Bottom side Dolphin face a must-win clash as they take on fifth-placed Ballynahinch at Irish Independent Park. These sides played out a 7-7 draw at Ballymacarn Park and the County Down side are aiming for a top four finish.

In Division 1B, second-placed Garryowen, who are aiming to return to the top flight at the first time of asking take on struggling Malone at Dooradoyle. The Sky Blues will be aiming to make it two wins out of two as they defeated the Belfast side 16-12 at Gibson Park in November.

UL Bohemian, who are hovering above the drop zone, face a tricky task as they travel to Athlone to take on Buccaneers, who ran out 21-16 winners when these sides met at Thomond Park.

Shannon welcome Ballymena to Coonagh and they will be aiming to avenge last November’s 43-15 defeat at Eaton Park.

Thomond travel to the Capital to take on bottom side Bective Rangers at Donnybrook and Cashel are away to second-placed Blackrock College in Division 2A.

UCC make the long trip north to take on City of Derry at Judge’s Road, with both sides aiming to preserve their Division 2A status.

Nenagh Ormond travel to Parsonstown to take on NUIM Barnhall, with both sides seeking to avoid relegation to Division 2B.

Highfield, who have already clinched promotion and the Division 2B title, take on second-placed Tullamore at Woodleigh Park hoping to maintain their unbeaten record.

Richmond faces a tricky task in their battle against a return to junior ranks as they travel to the Palace Grounds to take on Armagh.

Sunday’s Well are away to bottom side Ards and a win could move them up to third place, Old Crescent travel to Drogheda to take on struggling Boyne and Kanturk entertain Sligo in a mid-table clash.

Bruff travel to County Wicklow to take on third-placed Greystones and Midleton entertain DLSP as both sides look to maintain their 2B status with a top four finish.

Munster Junior League champions Clonmel begin their All Ireland Provincial League series with a home tie against former AIL side Connemara on Saturday.

The Munster Junior Cup continues with two quarter finals and one third round tie down for decision.

Shannon take on St Senan’s at Coonagh and the winners will have a home tie in the semi-finals against Kilfeacle or Clonakilty, who go head to head a the West Tipperary venue.

Cobh Pirates are at home to Highfield and the winners will be away to Young Muster in the quarter-finals.

In Division 1 of the Munster Junior League Skibbereen travel to Waterpark and Mallow take on Waterford City where there is nothing more than pride at stake.
