Its a quiet weekend on the Senior scene as the Junior League takes a break to allow for the Cup competitions to start.
There is only one game in the Ulster Bank All Ireland League featuring Munster Clubs as Nenagh Ormond and UCC lock horns at New Ormond Park. The home side who are second from bottom will be looking to make the most of home advantage count, while College will be aiming to continue their recent good start to the campaign.
The Bank of Ireland Munster Senior Cup is due to get underway this weekend when Dolphin meet neighbours Sunday’s Well in the opening round but both clubs have requested a postponement and a decision is awaited to see if the game will go ahead.
The Junior Divisional knock-out Cup competitions get underway with new names being inscribed on both the Junior Clubs’ Challenge Shield and the Martin O’Sullivan Cup.
Bandon and St Senan’s get the show on the road in the Munster Junior Club’s Challenge Cup at Old Chapel on Saturday afternoon and the winners will be away to Clanwilliam in the quarter finals.
Galbally and Waterpark go head to head at the County Limerick venue and the winners will be away to Skibbereen or Muskerry, who go head to head at the Carbery Showgrounds on Sunday.
In other ties, holders Clonmel begin their defence of the trophy with a home tie against Old Christians, with the winners away to Newcastle West or St Mary’s who lock horns at the West Limerick venue.
Richmond welcome Clonakilty to Richmond Park in a clash of two former AIL sides and the winners will be rewarded with a home quarter final tie against Kilfeacle.
There is a full program of games in the Munster Junior Clubs’ Challenge Shield as Abbeyfeale welcome Newport to West Limerick, with the winners at home to Charleville or Kinsale in the quarter finals.
Presentation entertain Tralee at Rathuard and the winners will be at home to the winners of the Dungarvan Cobh Pirates tie which goes ahead at the West Waterford venue.
Ballincollig travel to the Banner County to take on Ennis and the winners will be rewarded with a home quarter final tie against Mallow.
Thurles are at home to Waterford City with the winners away to Castleisland in the next round.
There are three Martin O’Sullivan Cup first round ties down for decision.
Killarney make the long trip to South Tipperary to take on Carrick-on-Suir with the winners meeting Chorca Dhuibhne in the West Kerry Gaeltacht in the quarter finals.
Fermoy entertain Fethard at the Showgrounds and the winners will be rewarded with a home tie against Douglas-Carrigaline.
Scariff and Killorglin go head to head in East Clare with Youghal awaiting the winners.
