Bruff and Old Crescent get proceedings underway on Friday evening as they go head to head in a mid-table clash in Division 2B of the Ulster Bank League at Kilballyowen Park.
On Saturday Cork Constitution, who are fourth in Division 1A, will be hoping to make it two wins out of two against St Mary’s College. Con defeated the Dublin side 26-15 at Templeville Road in October and another win will not only boost their hopes of a top-four finish but also do neighbours Dolphin a favour.
Struggling Dolphin are coming off the back of two successive wins since the start of 2015 but face a tricky task as they travel to the capital to take on Terenure College at Lakelands Park. The Dublin side ran out 47-0 winners when these sides met at Irish Independent Park earlier in the season.
Old Belvedere welcome Young Munster to Anglesea Road in a mid-table encounter. Munsters ran out 26-19 winners when these sides met in Limerick.
In Division 1B second-placed Garryowen will be aiming to record their second win over Belfast Harlequins in their bid to make a quick return to the top flight when these sides meet at Dooradoyle. The Sky Blues recorded a 24-13 victory in Belfast in October.
Sixth-placed Shannon welcome struggling Corinthians to Thomond Park and the Parish side ran out 30-7 winners when these sides met in Galway.
UL Bohemian, who are propping up the table, face a tough assignment making the long trip north to take on third-place Ballymena. The County Antrim side recorded a 30-23 victory at Thomond Park.
Nenagh Ormond face a tricky task as they take on leaders Old Wesley at Donnybrook and the other three Munster sides are in mid-table clashes as Cashel take on Thomond at the Spafield and UCC welcome Banbridge to Leeside.
Midleton, who are fifth in Division 2B, will be looking to make the most of home advantage in a bid to keep their aspirations of a top four finish intact as they entertain leaders Highfield at Towns Park.
The tie of the round in the southern section of the Munster Junior Cup sees Cobh Pirates and Cork Constitution locking horns at Cobh in a repeat of the 2006 decider in which Cobh won their only title in this competition to date. The Lilywhites reversed this result at Temple Hill the following year.
Fethard make their debut in the competition as they travel to the Banner County to take on Ennis.
Some other interesting pairings in the North section Bruff host Garryowen, UL Bohemian play St. Senan’s and Galbally host Young Munster.
In the Southern section Highfield play Sunday’s Well, Kanturk’s second XV will be playing in the competition for the first time and they could cause an upset at home to Youghal.
Mallow play Charleville in a derby game, Kinsale host Douglas and Bandon could cause an upset at the Mardyke against U.C.C.
